Ping-pong, kite flying and Irish dancing at Park(ing) Day in Bucharest this month

05 September 2011

Park(ing) day, a worldwide event that aims to draw attention on the need for more public space and to generate debates about how public space is created and allocated to improve the lives of urban citizens, will be held on September 16, in two parking places in Bucharest, namely in Unirii Square (Calarasi wing) and Carrefour Baneasa, starting 10:00 hours.

During this event, participants can play ping-pong, fly kites,  participate in workshops and learn Irish dancing. Romanian Masca Theatre will bring vivant statues, and street furniture and bicycles will also be brought at the event.

PARK (ing) Day is a project initiated in 2005 by Rebar, a design studio in San Francisco, and is meant to debate how public space is used in large cities, supporting the change in urban infrastructure.
