Planned concert hall at international standards in Romania’s capital, included in new Govt. platform

10 March 2014

The new platform of Romania’s Ponta III Government features the design of a concert hall at international standards in Bucharest, which will become the center of reference for the country’s George Enescu festival.

Also in terms of culture, the Government’s program includes:

  • Drafting and gathering collections for a “Museum of Communism” that will illustrate the everyday life under socialism, material culture, repression and forms of resistance
  • Systematic and continuous support of Romania’s participation at international cultural events, such as Venice Biennale or the International  Book Exhibition
  • The development of public-private partnership in the area of artistic industries (media, design, advertising, fashion)
  • The development and implementation, in partnership with the Bucharest Municipality and District 3 City Hall, of the integrated project “The historic center of the capital” for the establishment of a protected cultural area, for highlighting the historic monuments and architectural heritage
  • Supporting the contemporary artistic creation through creative camps, and by organizing exhibitions and cultural events in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute
  • Supporting the Romanian film industry to strengthen the international competitiveness

According to a draft approved in late-February by the General Council of Bucharest, the City Hall also wants to build a concert hall next to the National Library.
