PM: Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia share common goals
Romania and Bulgaria should enter the Schengen area together and not separately, said Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta after a trilateral meeting with Bulgaria’s PM Boyko Borisov and Serbia’s PM Aleksandar Vucic.
“Bulgaria was told some time ago to enter the Schengen area alone, without Romania. Now, Romania is told to join alone, without Bulgaria. I don’t believe in these things. I think that we will only enter Schengen together and that we will get out of the verification mechanism MCV together,” said Ponta, cited by local Agerpres.
He also said that Romania and Bulgaria can help Serbia join the EU sooner and not in 20 years.
Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said that Romania, Bulgaria and Serbia can all work on projects that will benefit the European Union. He added that his wish was to see a highway connecting Romania’s capital Bucharest with Bulgaria’s capital Sofia and Serbia’s capital Belgrade.
