The Police seized 688 books after searches conducted on Tuesday, September 16, at the Metropolitan Library in Bucharest. The books were allegedly purchased at overrated prices.

According to the manager of the institution, Anca Cristina Rapeanu, “ two computer units have been taken and 688 books purchased by the Bucharest Metropolitan Bucharest between 2008 and 2012 from Pavelescu Constantin, now dead, have been seized,” reports local Mediafax.

The manager added that she is not a specialist in old and rare books so she can’t say whether or not the books targeted in the investigation were purchased at correct prices.

The police conducted on Tuesday morning, September 16, a total of 18 searches at the Metropolitan Library, an institution subordinated to the Bucharest City Hall, and at 17 other locations in the capital and in Ilfov, Giurgiu, Dambovita and Teleorman counties.
