Polish PESA to produce up to 12 trams for Cluj-Napoca city hall in Romania

23 March 2012

Polish producer Pojazdy Szynowe PESA Bydgoszcz will deliver up to 12 trams for the Cluj – Napoca municipality in Romania, at some EUR 1.5 million per tram. The new trams offered by the Polish company have a 296 passenger capacity, and the warranty period is 6 years.

Cluj-Napoca City Hall recently won the lawsuit started by the Romanian company Astra Vagoane SA, controlled by businessman Valer Blidar, which also submitted an offer to sell trams to Cluj. Earlier this year, the Romanian company contested at the National Arbitration Council (CNSC) the results of the auction organized by the municipality, for the purchase of new trams in Cluj-Napoca, after the Polish company won the contract. CNSC’s decision was in favor of Blidar's company. The Cluj-Napoca City Hall then appealed the CNSC’s decision to the Court of Appeal in Cluj, and recently won. The contract with Pojazdy Szynowe PESA Bydgoszcz is to be signed in the forthcoming days.

Pojazdy Szynowe PESA Bydgoszcz also supplies customers in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Italy and Poland.
