Polish group Orbis will open two new hotels in Romania
Orbis Hotel Group, the largest network of hotels in Poland and in Eastern Europe, will open two new hotels in Romania, in 2017.
One of the units will be an ibis Styles hotel, a new concept on the local market, which will be opened in Arad, and the other one will be a Mercure hotel in Brasov, according to an official announcement by Orbis.
“Romania is a very promising market with great potential, with its growing GDP and improving market volume is one of the key markets in the region and an important element of our development strategy. In Romania we are aiming to increase the network targeting a leading position in the coming years,” said Gilles Clavie, President and CEO of Orbis Hotel Group.
The two hotels to be opened in 2017 will be newly built and owned by local entrepreneurs. The ibis Styles hotel in Arad will have 72 guestrooms, a restaurant, a lobby bar, a meeting room and a multipurpose room for conferences and events. Local investor Flavius Balaj, the owner of FAB Group, is the hotel's developer.
Mercure Brasov Hotel & SPA will have 120 superior rooms, a restaurant with terrace, two bars, 4 meeting rooms. and a business center. For leisure and relaxation, the new Mercure will offer a wellness area, SPA, fitness center, and a pool. The hotel is scheduled to open at the end of 2017. The hotel’s developer is Angelo Barbato, owner of Barbati Invest Real Estate.
The Polish company, which is controlled by French group AccorHotels, officially opened its first Mercure hotel in Romania last year. It currently operates seven hotels in Romania under the brands Ibis, Mercure, and Novotel brands.
