Polytechnics University signs contract with Google for student software promoting Romania
The Polytechnics University of Bucharest (UPB) recently announced that it will sign a contract with Google allowing the students to create software highlighting and promoting touristic sights and and high education institutes from Romania.
Google is one of the targeted employers for university students. “Many of the graduated students from our university are employees at Google since the second or third year, a little too early. But in recent years, companies are interested to bring engineers from all spectrums of the university”, said Mihnea Costoiu, rector with the Politehnica University.
The university recently organized the POLIFEST 2012, a fair which took place between October 17-19.
Thursday was be dedicated, at POLIFEST, to Germany and Austria, and the representatives of the embassies of the two states and the partner companies arrived at the fair. During the same day, Google and Facebook representatives also visited the fair. "We are talking about two types of companies, from the new industry (of the phone and games industry) and the traditional industry. This is an opportunity for the students to understand the way of thinking of these companies, the structure and their openess to universities. Very important is that the companies will present not just their activity but also the way they work with our students,” the rector also said.
