Pop icon duo Roxette back to Romania for July concert

21 February 2012

Swedish pop band Roxette will return to Romania one year after their first gig in the country. The band will hold a concert in Cluj – Napoca this year, after singing for the first time in front of a Romanian audience last year in Bucharest.

This year's concert is scheduled on July 19, on Cluj Arena, and is part of the band's promotion tour for the 'Charm School' album. Tickets for the concert will be on sale from February 23 on www.myticket.ro, and from February 29, in the Diverta stores, Muzica shop, Mihai Eminescu bookshop and Sala Palatului. The concert is organized by Emagic.

We went to Roxette's gig in 2011 and wrote about it here.

Roxette, made of  Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle, started touring again after an eight-year break, during which both members of the band worked mostly on solo projects. The band released a new album for 2011, 'Charm School'.

Roxette was created at the beginning of the 80s and became one of the best known pop bands of the 80s and the 90s. The band shifted its style in 2000 to keep up with the evolution of the international music scene. Marie Fredriksson was diagnosed with brain tumor in 2002, when the band stopped being active. Fredriksson eventually recovered and the band reunited in 2009.

Listen to a couple of Roxette songs below. More about the band on their official website here.
