Prankster triggers bomb alert at school in central Romania
A man called the 112 emergency line on Thursday morning, December 3, to announce that an explosive device had been placed at a secondary school in Hunedoara, a city in central Romania.
Several intervention units from the Emergency Situations Direction – ISU, the Police, and the Romanian Intelligence Service – SRI went to the school and evacuated the 1,000 students and teachers that had classes there. They sealed all the classrooms and started searching for the bomb, but found nothing.
Apparently the anonymous caller who triggered the bomb alert was a 13-year old student at that school. The authorities have identified him and will prosecute him, according to Agerpres newswire. The school will also take disciplinary action against the prankster.
The classes at the school have been suspended for the whole day on Thursday and will be resumed on Friday.
