President-elect delivers speech in Alba Iulia on Romania's National Day
Romania's elected President Klaus Iohannis said yesterday (Deccember 1) in Alba Iulia, during the celebrations organized for the Romania’s National Day, that he aims to rediscover the idea of national unity.
“96 years after the Great Union Day, we can talk again about national unity, but with different meanings. We are today a nation of citizens which showed the whole world that it respects democracy’s values, that it’s brave and wants a change,” Iohannis said, cited by local Wall-street.ro.
Romania must have national objectives related to its place in Europe and the world, to its own development, to reducing disparities between regions, and to connecting to Europe through infrastructure, Iohannis added.
Romania celebrated yesterday 96 years from the Great Union Day on December 1, 1918.
