Private equity fund invests EUR 0.7 mln in Romanian online recruitment platform

Private equity fund Catalyst Romania has invested EUR 700,000 in the local company SmartDreamers, which develops online recruitment platforms.

“This is the tenth active investment of the fund Catalyst Romania, and we are happy to invest in another Romanian technology company, this time a business in the online recruitment solutions segment,” said Marius Ghenea, investment director at 3TS Capital Partners, the company that manages Catalyst Romania.

SmartDreamers connects companies and candidates via targeted marketing campaigns, especially campaigns taking place in social media. The company’s platform is used in Romania and Hungary by over 2,000 companies and over 100,000 candidates.

In 2015, SmartDreamers launched the InRecruit recruitment application to help companies manage the recruitment process on multiple platforms.

The company was founded in 2014 by the Romanian investors Adrian Cernat, Mihai Ceausan, and Marius Huza. In February 2015, the company got a six-figure euro financing from three local angel investors: Malin-Iulian Stefanescu, Radu Atanasiu, and Danu Temelie.

Smartdreamers had revenues of EUR 38,000 and EUR 153,000 losses in 2015, according to official data from the Finance Ministry.

3TS Catalyst Romania is the first private equity fund dedicated to Romania financed through the European Commission’s JEREMIE initiative. The fund has invested EUR 10 million in local technology companies, since 2013, and has contributed to creating 300 jobs. The fund’s portfolio also includes stakes in Marketizator, Smart Bill, Vector Watch, www.avocatnet.ro, Simartis Telecom, www.elefant.ro, GHG, www.vola.ro, and 123ContactForm.
