Private pension funds go up by almost a third in Romania
Romania’s private pension funds had assets of EUR 5.5 billion at the end of September, up by 29.4% compared to September 2014, and 20.4% higher compared to December last year.
The share of private pensions in the GDP reached 3.4%, compared to 2.8% in September 2014 and 3% in December.
The mandatory private pensions amounted to over EUR 5.2 billion at the end of September, up 30% year-on-year and up 20.7% compared to December last year.
About 6.4 million people were registered for the mandatory private pensions at the end of September, up by 4% compared to September 2014. The average contribution amounted to about EUR 25, up 22.7% over September last year.
The optional private pensions totaled EUR 268 million after the first nine months of the year.
