Proposed changes for Romania's restaurants and bars: No pay if no official invoice
Employers' Unions in Romanian tourism have asked authorities for several legislative changes, which include allowing clients to walk out without paying if a restaurant or bar fails to issue an official invoice, as well as including the tip on the check.
The requests also include a 9 percent VAT for food service, and halving building taxes for hotels with seasonal activities, according to Mediafax newswire.
The first proposed measure, of Greek inspiration, would generate more revenues to the state budget, as restaurant and bar owners would have an extra, powerful incentive to issue official bills; otherwise, they would not get paid at all.
