Bill: Public procurement below EUR 2,800 to be done without tender in Romania

27 November 2017

Public procurement below RON 13,000 (EUR 2,800) will no longer need to be carried out via Romania’s electronic public procurement tender (SEAP). The Government is now preparing a draft law in this regard, EU funds minister Marius Nica said on Friday, reports local Hotnews.ro.

For example, authorities will no longer need to organize a tender to cover public institutions’ utilities costs. Every time a mayor wants to “change a bulb”, “fix a heater” he needs to use SEAP, the minister explained. The procedure is difficult and it is often necessary to intervene right away, he added.

“There will be a threshold below which they will no longer be obliged to do so, we’ll stop tormenting them with this procedure,” Nica said.
