Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Romania posted a profit of EUR 35.6 million last year, according to data from the bank. “We are very pleased with the financial indicators obtained last year. The preliminary results we have sent to the Romanian Central Bank show a profit of RON 150 million last year, which means a return on assets of 2.4 percent and a return on equity of 19.7 percent,” said Johan Gabriels, president of RBS Romania (in picture).

The bank will continue to focus on premium clients, on corporate and retail, as well as on Royal Preferred Banking – its private banking division.

For 2011, Gabriels hopes for an 10 percent profit increase, according to previous statements. He was hoping for a profit of EUR 30 million for last year.

RBS has recently moved to new headquarters in the Lake View office building in Bucharest. The bank has been active for the last 15 years in Romania, initially under the ABN Amro brand.
