Romanian telecom provider RCS&RDS is currently negotiating with Italian group Enel to purchase Enel's electricity distribution and supply unit in the Banat area.

"More companies are in talks with Enel for its Romania assets. For Banat, there are negotiations with telecom group RCS & RDS, but also with the Romanian electricity distributor Electrica, which is interested in all of Enel's units in Romania," according to Economica sources.

Italian energy company Enel announced in July its plan to sell its three electricity distribution and supply companies in Romania’s regions of Banat, Dobrogea and Muntenia Sud this year. The value of the transaction could amount to EUR 2 billion, according to estimates made by analysts.
