Recolamp collects 67 tonnes of recycled light bulbs in Romania in six months
Recolamp, an association in Romania which focuses on dealing with light sources waste, collected 67 tonnes of light bulbs in the first six months of this year in Romania, 37 percent more than in the same period of 2010, the company has announced.
The system that Recolamp has in place in Romania can collect over 450 tonnes of light bulbs. It includes 6,400 locations where people can recycle their used light bulbs, but only 26 percent of them have so far delivered waste to Recolamp.
“On an average, in the first six months of 2011, nine public institutions and companies call us every day to collect waste. Compared to 2010, the number of calls we get went up by 55 percent. This means over half a ton of light bulbs a day,” said Raul Pop, general manager of Recolamp.
