Record number of tourists chose Black Sea coast during week-end
Romanians flocked to the seaside last week-end, when the number of tourists in the local seaside resorts reached 80,000, according to official statistics. The number however includes only the tourists which checked into hotels, without taking into account those who have stayed at individuals who rent their places for the summer. Mamaia seaside resort had the highest occupancy rate. There were around 40,000 to 45,000 tourists on the seaside during the previous week-ends.
Out of the total 80,000 people who spent their week-end on the Romanian seaside, 3,500 were foreigners, similarly to 2009.
Mamaia resort attracted 25,000 tourists, Costinesti, 16,000, Eforie, another 15,000, Neptun, 10,000, while Vama Veche, around 3,000.
