Renault plans to launch two new Dacia models next year
French carmaker Renault will launch two models under the Romanian Dacia brand in Europe in 2012, the company said in a press release Thursday. Renault plans to launch a family car and a light commercial vehicle under the Dacia brand.
The Renault range will total 44 models in 2013 and 48 in 2016, from 40 models last year. In Europe, besides electric vehicles developed together with Nissan, Renault will introduce several new models such as Twingo phase 2 in 2011, a new Clio in 2012 and the two new Dacia models, also in 2012.
Dacia car sales grew by 12 percent to 349,000 units in 2010 on a worldwide level, according to the company. The car maker sold 154.600 Sandero cars, 127.200 Dacia Logan cars and 67.000 Dacia Duster units. Dacia is owned by French Renault, which operates a factory in Romania, at Craiova.
