Report: Most Romanian households have TV services
Most of Romania’s households – 99.6% - receive TV services, with cable TV dominant.
There were 5 million users for cable TV services in Romania at the end of 2017, 2.3 million had digital TV services, according to the Romanian Authority for Management and Regulation in Communication – ANCOM.
IPTV – based TV services are growing, with a 24% boost in 2017, to 120,000 subscribers.
There was a 3% growth in the number of cable TV subscribers in Romania last year, to 7.45 million subscribers. The penetration rate was higher in urban areas, 103.9 subscribers per 100 households – accounting for more than one TV subscription per household, and lower in rural areas: 94 for 100 households.
Rural areas have a higher ratio of satellite TV – DHT – services: 54%, while cable TV accounts for 82% of urban areas, according to the recent ANCOM report.
