Retail growth slows down in Romania in February
Romania’s retail trade turnover increased by 5% in February compared to the same month of 2017, as a gross series.
The growth rate slowed down significantly compared to January, when the retail sales increased by 11.1% over January 2017.
The increase in February was mainly supported by the food retail, which saw an 8% higher turnover. Non-food sales went up by 5% while fuel retail sales slightly declined by 0.5%, in gross terms.
In the first two months of 2018, the retail trade turnover went up by 8.3% over the same period of 2017. Food sales were 8.2% higher year-on-year, non-food sales increased by 11.1% and fuel sales went up by 3.7%.
