Retail trade turnover, up 2.1% in Romania in six months
The retail trade turnover in Romania, except for cars and motorcycles, increased by 2.1% in the first six months of the year in gross series, compared to the same period the year before.
The growth was mainly registered due to the 19.6% increase in the sales of raw agricultural materials and livestock, the 11.7% rise in unspecialized wholesale trade, and the 10.5% increase in sales of computer and telecommunications equipment. The sales of non-food products dropped 5.4% in this period, according to recent data from the National Statistics Institute INS.
In June 2015, the retail turnover, except for cars and motorcycles, increased by 8.5% month-on-month as gross series. The increase was supported by the 28.7% growth in sales of computer and telecommunications equipment and the 27.4% rise in sales of other cars and equipment.
Compared to June 2014, the retail trade turnover increased by 8.3% in June this year.
