Retailer Profi recently opened in Sighisoara its first modular store in Romania. It covers a total area of 327 sqm and has a sales area of 200 sqm, but it can change its size.

“The novelty is that this technology not only allows us to build stores almost anywhere, but to expand or shrink them as needed, in a very short time,” according to Pawel Musial, general manager of Profi Rom Food.

For example, in an area where the number of clients turns out to be too low for a profitable activity, the store will be resized rather than closed, to meet the purchasing power of the area. If demand and sales are above expectations, the store can be expanded, according to the company.

Profi runs 227 stores in Romania and employs some 5,500 people. In the following years, the retailer targets a network of some 400 stores.
