Retailer: Romanians spend up to EUR 680 on wedding flowers
Romanians spend on average between RON 1000 (EUR 227) and RON 3000 (EUR 681) on wedding flowers, while for a baptism the budget is of some RON 1,000 (EUR 227), according to FlorideLux, one of the leading flower retailers on the local market.
“If in Bucharest the future spouses spend about RON 3,000 for a complete package of flowers, which covers the bouquets for both the bride and the godmother, corsages and arrangements for the tables, outside Bucharest the costs are lower, ranging on average between RON 1,500 and RON 2,000,” said Marius Dosinescu, CEO and founder FlorideLux.
By comparison, the spouses in the UK and the US allocate budgets of GBP 600 and USD 1,500 for wedding flowers, which includes the bouquet for the bride, those for the bridesmaids, corsages, flowers for the ceremony and for the party and the rose petals.
In terms of consumption behavior in Romania, clients mainly do the research online and then go to flower shops for a face to face discussion with the florist on the design and the desired flowers, according to Ioana Buiacu, development manager and florist at FlorideLux.
FlorideLux owns the www.floridelux.ro online flower shop, but also www.brazidecraciun.ro, which sells Christmas trees, www.coroane.ro, which sells funeral wreaths, and www.cosuridelux.ro, which sells gift baskets for different occasions. The company has also opened traditional flower shops under franchise.
