Retailers in Romania can sell appliances only with EC mark

25 November 2016

Romanian retailers can sell appliances or electronic products only if they are marked with the European Commission mark and contain information about the manufacturer, importer, and marketer.

Otherwise the fines amount between RON 500-50,000 (EUR 110-11,000), according to the National Communications Authority (ANCOM).

The draft law no. 740/2016, which transposes the EU law on the electrical equipment market into the national law, entered into force on November 22. The bill sets new rules for the companies involved in the supply chain or distribution of electric equipment. It states more clearly the obligations for the producer, importer, and distributor.
