MP wants right-hand drive cars banned in Romania
Gabriel Petrea, an MP from the ruling Social Democratic Party (PSD), believes the right-hand drive cars are dangerous for the traffic in Romania and wants them banned in the country, local Digi24 reported.
The MP said the drivers of these cars don’t have good visibility on Romania’s roads, where the cars drive on the right side of the road.
However, according to Digi24, the drivers have different opinions on this proposal. While some agree with the PSD MP, others believe that the drivers just need to be a little bit more careful when driving these cars.
More Romanians bought right-hand drive cars after the car tax was removed in 2017. The number of such cars registered in Romania went up from around 6,000 in 2016 to more than 25,000 last year. One of the reasons for this increase is the fact that right-hand drive cars are cheaper.
