Ringier buys Romanian recruitment website eJobs.ro

30 March 2012

Media company Ringier group acquired the bulk of shares in Romanian online recruitment website eJobs.ro. The deal's value was not revealed. Ejobs.ro, with 1.7 million unique visitors a month and 30 million pageviews, has a market share of 60 percent and over 2.3 million CVs in its database. Ringier's acquisition is in line with its strategy to increase its transaction based online revenues, according to the media group. eJobs.ro posted a turnover of EUR 1.9 million 2010 and a profit of EUR 1 million, a 50 percent profitability rate, according to public data.

NNDKP law firm acted as legal adviser for Ringier, while Tuca, Zbarcea & Asociatii, for eJobs. The Swiss media company bought a 70 percent share package in eJobs.ro from the two founders, Liviu Dumitrascu and Daniel Tatar, and a financial investor. Dumitrascu and Tatar, who founded eJobs.ro in 1999, will stay in the company as minority shareholders and will also be further involved as top managers in the eJobs.ro business.

“The acquisition of eJobs is the next important strategic step for Ringier to increase the share of digital business in all markets. eJobs is a highly profitable company and ideally complements our digital market presence in Romania,” said Florian Fels, CEO Ringier Central and Eastern Europe.

Ringier has been active in Romania since 1992. It now has 400 employees and more than 30 print products and online platforms, amongst which are tabloid paper «Libertatea» and ELLE magazine.
