Rio-Bucovina hopes to cash in EUR 26 mln from mineral water and juice this year in Romania

06 July 2011

Romanian non-alcoholic beverages producer Rio-Bucovina aims for a turnover of almost EUR 26 million at the end of 2011, which would bring a 29 percent increase in business compared to last year, the company has announced. The first half of the year brought a 40 percent increase in turnover.

“The growth was due to a more developed and efficient distribution across the country, as well as to adaptation to consumers' demand,” said Camelia Hoinarescu, marketing manager with Rio-Bucovina.

Last year, the company grew its turnover by 4 percent compared to 2009 and managed to turn to profit, after reaching break-even in 2009.

Rio-Bucovina has budgeted investments of over EUR 2 million for this year. It hopes to see an increase in consumption for mineral water during summer. The local bottled water market in Romania reaches 10 million hectoliters, which translates into 0.15 liters per person, showing there is much more to reach the market potential, according to Rio Bucovina.

The company was set up in 1999, when it used to distribute the Bucovina mineral water and the Rio non-alcoholic beverages. Rio – Bucovina started producing and bottling the Bucovina mineral water and the Rio juices in 2006. It then went on to produce food and non-food items.
