Poll supports Social Democrats’ plans for new term after 2024 elections
The Social Democrats (PSD) are leading at a wide margin, with 35% of the voting intentions in the latest poll conducted by CURS, quoted by News.ro.
The Liberal Party (PNL) comes in second place with only 23% of the voting intentions.
The reformist party USR gained ground compared to the previous poll (+3pp), but with 11% electoral support, it is still surpassed by the radical party AUR (12%).
The ethnic Hungarians’ party UDMR stays constant at 5%.
The survey was conducted by PNL between March 28 and April 11. The maximum error for the 2,750 sample is +/- 1.9pp at a 95% confidence level.
PSD president Marcel Ciolacu confirmed his party’s intention to maintain in office the incumbent ruling coalition after the 2024 general elections. He also confirmed that the prime minister would be replaced under the rotating arrangement with a representative of the Social Democrats.
