It’s official: Indoor restaurants and cinemas in RO reopen on September 1

31 August 2020

Indoor restaurants and coffee shops in Romania can reopen on September 1, the National Committee for Emergency Situations (CNSU) decided on Thursday evening, Profit.ro reported.

Cinemas and theaters can also open starting the same date. Meanwhile, indoor clubs, discos and bars remain closed.

The reopening of indoor restaurants and cinemas will be possible in the counties where the total number of new COVID-19 infection cases in the last 14 days is lower than 1.5 per 1,000 inhabitants.

This restriction doesn’t apply to restaurants within hotels, which can reopen even if the number of infections is higher.

The restaurants and coffee shops will operate between 6:00 and 24:00 with the last order at 23:00.

Cinemas and theaters will operate at maximum 50% of their capacity.

Betting agencies, gambling venues and casinos will also be allowed to reopen starting September 1.

The authorities also decided to allow private events, trainings and workshops with up to 50 participants (indoors) and 100 participants (outdoors).
