Expat takes over as CEO of Selgros Romania

Robert Hellwagner is the new CEO of retailer Selgros Romania beginning July 1. He is taking over from Alexandru Vlad, the Romanian executive who managed the operations of Selgros Cash & Carry in Romania since 2001, when the group entered the local market.

Hellwagner has over ten years of experience in the FMCG industry and also worked in the banking sector in Austria and Switzerland. He joined the Selgros Romania team in June of last year.

Alexandru Vlad has moved on to run the administration board of Selgros Cash&Carry Germany, also beginning July.

Selgros Cash&Carry Romania has 22 stores across the country, in Bucharest, Alba-Iulia, Braşov, Iaşi, Târgu Mureş, Oradea, Cluj, Ploieşti, Timişoara, Craiova, Bacău, Galaţi, Brăila, Arad, Suceava, Constanţa and Bistrița. Since 2011, it is part of part of Swiss group TransGourmet, which has operations in Switzerland, France, Germany, Austria, Poland, Russia and Romania.

Last year, Selgros had a turnover of some RON 3.6 billion (EUR 775 million) in Romania, up 10.6% over 2016, according to public data.
