Roman tomb discovered in Romania contains remains of a woman, jewellery

Romanian archaeologists have found a Roman burial tomb earlier this month, which contained the remains of a woman and several pieces of jewelry.

The tomb was discovered in the archaeological site located on the first sector of the Sebes-Turda highway.

Among the jewelry found inside the tomb, there was a gold wire necklace (glass beads attached on some of the segments), a gold earring ornamented with a semiprecious stone and a pearl at the end of a rod, and a bronze coin.

Both the remains and the jewelry were handed over to the National Union Museum in Alba Iulia.

A total of eight archaeological sites were discovered last year on the project route of the first segment of Sebes-Turda highway. Archaeologists from the Brukenthal Museum is Sibiu are currently conducting research activities at the eighth archaeological site.
