Romania is absent from the presentation catalog and the information panels of the World Travel Market in London, the biggest tourism fair in the world, although it paid almost EUR 250,000 to have a stand there.

The Romanian authorities paid the invoice for participating at this fair very late, after the organizers printed the materials, local Profit.ro reported. Romanian tour operators present at Romania’s stand said they missed important meetings because of this situation as their foreign partners didn’t know that Romania was present at the fair.

The tour operators also complained that Romania’s stand looked like an empty field between two new buildings, namely the stands of Georgia and Serbia.

They also said that Romanian officials don’t visit the attractive stands at the fair to learn from their experience and prefer to go shopping at luxury stores in London, such as Harrods.
