Romania and Republic of Moldova plan natural gas pipe connection
A new natural gas pipe will connect Romania and the Republic of Moldova, according to the Moldova government. The Republic of Moldova prime minister Vlad Filat has met the Romanian Economy Minister Adriean Videanu to talk about the energy cooperation between the two countries. A new electrical line between Balti and Suceava, a 400 kV connection, was detailed in the meeting, which also examined the opportunity to connect electrical lines between Ungheni and Iasi, as part of the construction works for the power plant in Ungheni.
The natural gas pipe between Ungheni and Iasi will eventually allow the delivery of natural gas both ways. The two countries agreed on building this natural gas connection but no further details on the project have been given.
