Romania applies only 46% of the European Anti-Fraud Office’s recommendations in 7 years
Romania’s sanctions rate following recommendations from the European Anti-Fraud Office OLAF was of 46 percent between 2006 and 2013, below the EU average of 54 percent, according to the European Commission.
Romania received 70 recommendations for measures during this period, and out of these, no decision has been made in 17 cases, 31 are still under investigation, 12 were rejected, and only 10 resulted in sanctions.
Where a conclusion was reached, the rate of sanctions against the number of OLAF proposals is of 46 percent. Only five EU countries had a rate of 100 percent sanctions: Cyprus, Hungary, Malta, Slovenia and Sweden.
