Romania asks China Development Bank to open local subsidiary

16 August 2011

China Development Bank could open a subsidiary in Romania, should the recent talks between Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc and his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao become reality. The possibility needs to be analyzed technically, after being tackled on a political level, according to Boc.

Romania has presented five large investment projects to Chinese investors, during the recent official visit to China: the 3 and 4 Cernavoda reactors, the Siret- Baragan channel, the Bucharest bypass and the Tarnita plant, which can all be done through public – private partnerships, Boc has said.

China Development Bank is a state-owned bank primarily responsible for raising funding for large infrastructure projects. It is one of the three policy banks in China.
