A new institution dealing with child protection and adoptions was recently created in Romania. The Romanian government decided to establish the National Authority for Child Protection and Adoption, which would take over the Ministry of Labor and the Romanian Office for Adoption’s activity in this field.

According to an emergency ordinance, the Romanian Office for Adoption will be dissolved within 30 days, reports local news agency Mediafax.

The government also decided the create a Department for Equal Opportunities between Women and Men, led by a Secretary of State.
