Romania celebrates Francophone culture with 50 events in March

March will become the month of Francophony in Romania, with over 50 events scheduled for capital Bucharest and numerous other shows across the country, planned around the March 20 Day of the Francophony. Cinema will be acclaimed at the Francophone Film Festival between March 23 and 26, while theater shows, concerts and literature events have also been included among the events this month.

On March 5 (today), Belgian film directors Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne will attend the special pre-screening of their most recent film, ‘ Le Gamin au Vélo’ (The Kid with a Bike), at the Studio cinema in Bucharest.

The Bucharest International Film Festival (B-EST IFF) will kick off on March 19, hosting Romanian-born director Radu Mihaileanu, who will present his most recent film ' La Source des Femmes' (screen capture in opening image).

Odeon Theater will host a representation of the play 'The Chairs' by Romanian-born playwright Eugene Ionesco, a performance directed by Alan Bourgeois, on March 30.

The French Institute in Bucharest will open its doors on March 28 for a new edition of the Poetry Fair, which will last for three days.

Earlier during the month, in March 12, the institute will host a concert by pianist Laurent Cousson.
