Romania celebrates St Mary and Navy Day. Free day for workers and free boat rides in Herastrau

15 August 2011

The Orthodox in Romania celebrate Saint Mary on August 15, which has been also included among free days for workers in the country. This is the main celebration of Saint Mary, the Assumption, with a second one on September 8, celebrating St. Mary's birth.

The day has been also chosen as the Navy Day in Romania, when festivities are organized in Romania's harbors. Romania's military will put on a show in Constanta seaside city on this occasion.

Those who stay in Bucharest and will have the legal free day can enjoy a free boat ride in Herastrau park, starting 12,00 hours. Don't forget that this is also the name day for many Romanians. Most of those who celebrate their name day today are called Maria, Marian or Mariana.
