Information is power: Romania's Constitution now on Instagram

26 May 2016

A young Romanian has decided to make the country's Constitution more accessible to the general public, especially the youth, by publishing it in a readable form on one of the most popular social media platforms - Instagram.

Bogdan Anghel, 31, had this idea after attending several protests in Bucharest. While at protests, Bogdan noticed that most people were not very well informed about their rights and liberties, and didn’t know the relations between state institutions or the attributions of the President, Government, and Parliament.

“Many of these answers are in the Constitution,” Bogdan Anghel told Romania-insider.com.

That’s why he has created a page dedicated to the Romanian Constitution on Instagram, where the Romanians can find out more about their Constitutional rights in a simple and entertaining way. The laws are written in colorful squares, making the reading part more fun.

“Many people, when they hear about a law, think of something stiff, hard to understand, with specific terms, but the Constitution is not like that,” the young man explained.

The Instagram page was launched in November 2015 and has already gathered some 3,000 followers. Those interested in finding more about their rights can access the page from their mobile devices, computers, and tablets.

Bogdan Anghel works in an advertising company, but is also involved in several personal projects, such as the Romanian Constitution on Instagram and his record label. He has also been active in civic projects and got involved in President Klaus Iohannis’ online campaign in 2014.

And he doesn’t plan to stop here: Bogdan has another project in the making, which will address to high school students.
