Romania consumes 10 percent more natural gas, mostly from local production
Natural gas consumption in Romania reached 78.7 million Mwh in the first six months of the year, which was an increase of 10 percent compared to the same period of last year, according to data from the Energy regulation National Agency (ANRE). Local natural gas production covered 90 percent of the consumed resources, while the rest came from imports.
Romgaz and OMV Petrom, the first two producers, delivered 95 percent of the internal production. Romania imported natural gas at a price between USD 329 and 264 per 1,000 cubic meters.
