Romania could attract EU funds retrospectively
The management authorities of the EU-funded programmes in Romania have approved 40 projects that were carried out between 2007 and 2013, but weren’t initially planned to receive EU money.
These projects could now get some EUR 464 million from the European Commission, according to the EU Funds Ministry.
The retrospective projects include investments that have been completed or are close to completion that have been financed from the state budget or from loans concluded with international financial institutions. Romania can require for them the reimbursement of expenditure, if they meet the eligibility criteria applied to the 2007-2013 operational programmes.
The management authorities have analyzed until now over 1,560 retrospective projects, which are worth EUR 1.2 billion. They have approved 40 of them so far.
