Romania could pay doctors for a year with money from corruption cases
The National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) last year brought to justice cases where the courts decided to seize over EUR 310 million, said the DNA chief Codruta Kovesi.
If the state executed and recovered this amount, it would be enough to pay all the Romanian doctors’ salaries for one year.
“It’s important that the fiscal authorities effectively execute these court decisions,” Kovesi said, cited by local Mediafax.
President Klaus Iohannis said it was unacceptable that the Fiscal Administration ANAF only collected 10% of the sums seized by DNA.
Kovesi presented the DNA result for 2014 to the President Klaus Iohannis, Prime Minister Victor Ponta, acting head of the Romanian Intelligence Service Florian Coldea and the Justice Minister Robert Cazanciuc.
