Romania forex reserves down, gold reserves value up. See how much the country's coffers value
Romania's foreign currency reserves, deposited at the Romanian Central Bank (BNR) dropped by EUR 362 million in June, reaching EUR 31.98 billion, according to data from BNR. This is the second month in a row when BNR's forex reserves drop. EUR 792 million entered Central bank's coffers and EUR 1.15 billion of the reserve came out in June.
The country's gold reserves stayed at 103.7 tonnes but its value went up by 3.3 percent in June, to EUR 3.3 billion as the international price of gold went up too.
In total, Romania's international reserves, which include gold and foreign currencies were of EUR 34.9 billion.
BNR has to pay the country's external debt installment, either the direct debt or the one guaranteed by the Finance Ministry, which will take out EUR 876 million from the reserve in July. The cost for servicing this debt in June was of only EUR 161.7 million.
