Romania, fourth in European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad
Romania got the fourth place out of 30 participating countries in the European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad in Minsk, which ended on April 20.
Romania’s team of four won four medals: two gold, one silver and one bronze. The four members of the team are all students at the International Informatics Highschool in Bucharest.
Simona Diaconu, a 12th grade student, was sixth in the overall ranking, out of more than 100 contestants. This was her fourth gold medal at the European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad. Ioana Alexandra Teodorescu (10th grade) also got the gold in her first entry in the competition.
Marina Romina Ivan got the silver and Raluca Cobzaru, the bronze.
Ukraine, the U.S. and Serbia landed the first three places in the competition.
