Romania gets EUR 10 mln from EU for fruits and vegetables in schools
Romania will receive EUR 10 million from the European Union in the 2012-2013 school year, to buy fruits and vegetables for school children. The School Fruit Scheme was already approved and a formal decision will be made in the coming weeks, according to the European Commission.
EU's total funding on the fruits and vegetables program will stay at EUR 90 million, which will be distributed to the 24 member states that will take part in the program. Sweden, Finland and UK have decided not to be in the program.
Italy will get the highest amount - EUR 20.5 million, Germany, some EUR 11.6 million and Romania, EUR 9.8 million. Poland comes next with EUR 9.2 million, France will get EUR 5.6 million and Spain, some EUR 4.8 million.
