Romania has highest ratio of crops in the EU, lowest on animal production
Romania had in 2014 the highest ratio of crops within the national agricultural output among the EU member states, with 73%, but had the lowest proportion of animal products, with 26%.
Romania ranked fifth among the European cereals producers, with 20.9 million tonnes of cereals, representing 7% of the total EU production of 305.7 million tonnes, according to Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.
Of the total agricultural output in the EU in 2014, which is estimated at EUR 392.2 billion, Romania ranked 8th with EUR 15.4 billion.
France was the main beef producer, with 1.9 million tonnes, whereas Romania produced only 29,000 tonnes.
