Romania posts highest economic growth in the EU

Romania’s economy increased by 1.4% in the third quarter compared to the previous three months, the highest growth rate in the European Union (EU), according to the European Statistics Office – Eurostat.

Poland and Slovakia came next, with 0.9% economic growth each, followed by Spain, with 0.8%.

When compared to the third quarter of 2014, Romania’s gross economic product (GDP) went up by 3.6%, the second highest increase in the EU, after that posted by the Czech Republic, of 4.3%. Poland’s GDP also increased by 3.6% in Q3 2015 compared to the same quarter of last year.

Romania’s economy went up by 3.7% in the first nine months of the year, as the growth rate in the first two quarters when compared to the similar periods of 2014 was 3.8%, according to Romania’s National Statistics Institute (INS).
