Romania imports more Asian workers

31 July 2018

More companies in Romania are starting to consider importing workers from non-EU countries due to workforce deficits in some sectors, according to HR services company Smartree, quoted by News.ro.

However, high costs related to international hiring procedures and long hiring cycles are the main drawbacks.

The sectors where local companies have already started importing non-EU workforce include the hospitality industry (hotels and restaurants), light industry, agriculture, construction and services.

Most foreign workers come from Asian countries such as Philippines, Nepal, Vietnam, India, Indonesia and Thailand, where the living standards are lower than in Romania.
