Romania is regional champ for renewable energy attractiveness

Romania is now in the top 15 most attractive countries in the world for renewable energy, according to the new Country Attractiveness Indices, launched by Ernst & Young. The country is the renewable energy regional champion and is among the highest placed of all EU countries, with only Germany, the UK, France, Italy, Spain and Sweden scoring higher. The index now ranks Romania ahead of Poland and Ireland, after being almost on a par with them in February on the wind energy score. Romania closed the gap with countries such as Spain, Sweden, Australia and Japan.

Ranking 14 in the index, Romania comes after first placed China, the US – second place and Germany – third spot.

Neighbor Hungary comes 39th in the ranking that includes 40 countries, while the Czech Republic is last.

Romania is also in 11th place on the wind index, outranking the Netherlands, Denmark and Finland. The country came 21st in the solar index, ranking higher than Bulgaria, Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
